Welcome!

I'm glad you're here! This blog is to document our adventures in living frugally in our heavily-taxed country where the medical field is constantly going through changes. Our main adventure: paying off student loan debt so we can live and give "like no one else." We thank Dave Ramsey for this motivation!

Keeping baby clothes clean--without the hot wash cycle!

I've heard that laudry detergents have come a long way since the dark ages. In fact, they're so far advanced that doing the wash on a hot cycle is not necessary.

Money Saving Mom Crystal doesn't agree. And having done at least 20 loads in the last 3 weeks (thanks to our poop-happy newborn!), I didn't agree. Because--you know--you gotta get the poop out.

Today I discovered a short cut that I hope will save precious hot water. And it gets the poop out!

How to remove those precious newborn stains (or any other stain, except blood).
1. Remove clothing item.
2. Spray stain with Spray N Wash. Let set for 5 or 10 minutes.
3. Put clothing article in a small plastic basin. Pour hot water into the basin, and put bar of soap in the basin for about 10 seconds to get all sudsy. (I use Dial).
4. Let soak for 8 hours or overnight.
5. Rinse and check for stain. If gone (mine all were!) add to next laundry pile. Wash in cold water. Voila!
